And There's Hamburger All Over The Highway...

I don't know if the mission statement covers stuff like this, but since it's fabulous, I don't care.

A brand new, very funny, interview with The Firesign Theatre. Who are touring, apparently. Opening for Great White.

On a recent car trip with The Surly Teenager, I put "Dear Friends" in the CD player. Blew his little mind. All he could say was, "Those guys are *random!*" Which, in our little corner of the world, is high praise among the high school freshmen.

Dear Friends has one of my all time favorite bits of theirs.

well, i'll be.

I'm ecstatic to find the web presence of the great Steve Simels- the only record reviewer I agreed with 100% as an adolescent who was gravely concerned with pop-rock and read every review I could get my hands on. Nice blog you have here!

Doubly thrilled: mention of the Firesign Theater. Triply: I can chime in with "Dear Friends" fans, that one remains my favorite Firesign recording, by far. My eldest son is fast approaching the age in which I think he'd appreciate their special brand of humor- it should be fun.

Oh, man, do I love Firesign. So many classic lines:

"How long have Pico and Alvarado been gone?" "Since 1500." "Wow, that's longer than anyone's ever been gone before!"

"Trailerbikes, chiggerbites and moskweetoes collided aimlessly in the dense gas . . ."

"He broke the President!"

"Here in the studio, it's all knuckles and know-how, but when I get home, my old lady knows what I need, and how--a big, steamin' bowl of Loostner's Castor Oil Flakes . . . with real glycerin vibrafoam!"

Thanks for posting the interview. Those (four or five) guys still slay me.
